We wanted a kitty for awhile…here she is. We got her from Vickey’s Pet Connection. It was a wonderful experience. It took a few days, interviews, paperwork, and a visit to our PetSmart to get her. She is a rescue kitty that is a Hemingway Polydactyl (extra toes). The cat lady Nancy, was very informative and thought that Honey would be a good fit for our home. She has adapted well so far and Cocoa is adapting to her too. He still is my boy and I reassure him that no one will take his place, even a little Honey. This really does feel like adding a new sib to the family. I will take any advice out there!

Didn’t want to pass up passing on this incredible Australian video. I knew Australian Shepherds were smart and brave but to herd sharks…ok really don’t know what breed this is. Looks like a yellow lab. What’s your guess?

Eukanuba has crowned its 28-Day weight loss challenge and its Lucy a yellow lab from Sand Lake, Michigan. Whats so amazing is that labs tend to chow it down and they are so active in general that it would be easy to think they could burn it off so easy. Hats off to her owner Madeline Sagorski, for noticing Lucy’s sluggish behavior and taking the time to research and trying something to correct the problem. I am looking forward to seeing Lucy in Eukanuba’s ad campaign and on the September cover of Dog Fancy magazine. Hey the Eukanuba 28 day challenge is the one diet I haven’t tried hmmmmmm……..

I was thinking about how awesome our troops our this Memorial Day and I am deeply thankful for them and the sacrifices that they made and continue to make. I have seen a few stories that I found to be very interesting about the role canines play in our military. Rebecca Frankel has an incredible photo essay, Dogs of War, on the Foreign Policy website. Earlier this week I was happy read an AP article, “Dogs of war find better fortunes”, on the AP about our dog heroes finding good homes. God Bless all of our heroes today and always.
