Drs Foster and Smith safety harness http://www.drsfostersmith.com

The Super Cool Youtube video (older post) is clever and funny. When the shot cuts away to that yummy golden in a harness strapped to the jeeps seat, it sends a serious safety message: harness your pet, especially if your “Super Cool!” I need to do this. I have thought about it for to long and have not acted upon it…shame on me! I was reading my local paper, the Grand Rapids Press, and there in B3 was an AP article by Sue Manning, Do pet’s pose threat to driving safety?” It shows a little dog, you know those little harmless creatures, enjoying the breeze blowing in it’s face, halfway out the window. Now I don’t do that but….I am no better. Unrestrained dogs are a safety hazard for humans and also are at injury and death risk if they are loose in the car. Do you use a safetly harness for your pet? I went to Pets Supplies Plus and they were out, Zuke dog treats were on sale though. Then I went to Petsmart and I bought a pet safety harness from Top Paw Any suggestions? I haven’t had a chance to even try the harness out yet due to Tundra 2011 storm. Stay tuned!

I know I have some Homemade Millionaire (no new HM news) and Shark Tank etc. contestants check in from time to time. I came across this in the news last night, it looks so fun! I needed to share it with my inventor friends. Before doing this, I would protect my idea, but who couldn’t use a little pitching practice and maybe a little bump in cash. Check out this site www.5×5night.com and if you decide to come on over to Grand Rapids, Michigan give me a shout out, maybe we could throw back some wine to toast to your success☺.

Mommy Millionaire, Kim Lavine is having her HOME opener tonight; this event is an invitation only event. Kim is a dynamic business woman that is trying to get a million businesses going. She has raised big money and is looking to help you do the same, check her out
http://www.amillionnewbusinesses.com I am wishing them the best of luck on both of these ventures—Looks like Michigan is done with the depression and is moving toward a Renaissance state. Rock on!

Time to Break Up with Your Dog?

When love hurts....

When love hurts....

I am not a pet expert or dog trainer, but a dog lover and I received a note from a distressed reader about her Aussie mix who is starting to be a bit too possessive of the owner and starting to show signs of aggression. The owner wants to have a baby… I had a similar situation with a dog I owned and I was pregnant. Our problem was that he liked to run away (yes, we had a fence) and was not very obedient. He hadn’t shown any signs of aggressive or possessive behavior. I took him to obedience classes where the trainer, Michael Humphreys, said, ‘whoa he’s about a 7 on the Alpha scale…’ and that comment came from a professional dog trainer. Long traumatic story short- we were shocked when the dog bit my child on the hand over a pan of brownies, and we had to find the dog a more appropriate home. Although the decision was clear since I would never take an animal over my child, we all cried when his new family came to pick him up. Part of the reason we got a dog was to teach our children about caring and here I was sending the dog away. I felt like a failure as a parent to both my children and the dog. I totally sympathize with this dog owner. Of course you may want to get the dog checked out to see if there is a medical reason for the aggression and maybe talk to your vet and a professional trainer. So, should she get her dog professionally trained or should she find another home for her beloved dog? Do you have any advice for this dog owner?
